2. Information You Need: Test to Treat Initiative
The Biden administration recently enacted the “Test to Treat” initiative as a part of the pandemic preparedness plan. The goal of the initiative is to provide free antiviral medication (e.g., Paxlovid and Molnupiravir) at the time someone tests positive for COVID-19 at participating pharmacy sites. These antivirals are already available through a doctor’s prescription, but this initiative aims to speed up treatment especially for those at high-risk for developing severe COVID-19 (e.g., those with certain chronic health conditions). For more information about the available antiviral medications through this initiative, visit our previous update.
The available antiviral treatments are most effective within three to five days of COVID-19 onset, so reducing the time and effort required to obtain a prescription has the potential to reduce burden on the healthcare system. However, as of now, pharmacies involved in the initiative are required to have an on-site prescriber, which most pharmacies do not have. Implementation of the initiative has begun at hundreds of sites across the U.S. the week of March 14th and participating sites will continue to be added. Stay tuned for more updates coming to give you information on the sites near you as it becomes available!

3. Information You Need: Arizona housing relief
The pandemic has brought many challenges, including financial hardships for so many individuals and families. This has been and continues to be a difficult time for people to make ends meet. Mortgage and rental assistance are available in Arizona, but it can sometimes be hard to know where to go for help. Below are a few resources for housing cost assistance:
- Rental assistance and eviction prevention programs
- Renter help and resources
- e.g., local tenant rights, housing counseling agencies, etc.
- Emergency Rental Assistance program
- Utility bill assistance
