2. All Things Vaccines: 12 – 15 year olds are now eligible to receive Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine!
The FDA has authorized emergency use of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine for children between the ages of 12 – 15. Currently, anyone 12 years or older is able to receive a Pfizer vaccination!
- The vaccine is safe, well tolerated and highly effective for 12 to 15 year olds! Members of the AZCOVIDTXT team have already gotten their kids vaccinated! We were so excited.
- In the United States, 2,260, 12 to 15 year old participants were enrolled in placebo-controlled clinical trials. Of the 2,260, 1,129 received the Pfizer vaccine while 1,131 participants received a saline placebo. Efficacy of the vaccine is estimated to be as good or even better than in the trials for 16 to 25 year olds! The side effects experienced appear to be consistent with what was described among 16 – 25 year olds (e.g., pain at the injection site, tiredness, headache, chills, muscle pain, fever and joint pain).
The next update will cover what to do if you cdc mask guidance for fully vaccinated individuals. If you would like to learn more about this and other topics related to COVID-19 in Arizona, please complete next week’s AZCOVIDTXT survey that you will receive via text in about a week.
