2. Upcoming Elections! 

The State General Election, also commonly referred to as midterm elections, are right around the corner! Voting is a great way to make your voice heard and spark change you’d like to see on a community and state level. Top state offices are on the ballot, including governor, attorney general, secretary of state, US Senate, and public school superintendent. Keep reading to learn more about important voter information for the upcoming election! 

Although the voting registration period has closed, here are some other important dates to keep in mind:

  • Request your mail-in ballot by October 28th using the Active Early Voting List registry, which offers both online and mail-in options. If you’d like more assistance when registering, contact your County Recorder’s Office at 1-877-843-8683. 
    • Mail-in ballots need to be received by the voting station by November 8th, so make sure you give yourself plenty of time to mail your ballot ahead of time! 
    • Not sure if your ballot has been received? Track the status of your ballot here
  • Official voting day is November 8, 2022. If you’d like to vote in person, or drop off your mail-in ballot, find your polling location here
    • Check your voter registration status to ensure you’re eligible to vote!
    • Make sure you bring at least one form of photo ID, or two forms of nonphoto ID. Members of federally recognized tribes may present a tribal ID that does not contain an address or photo to cast a ballot. 
    • Polls are open from 6 am to 7 pm on election day. If you’re still in line past 7 pm, stay in line– you’re still able to vote and make your voice heard.

Over the past few months, there has been an increase in fake fentanyl pills circulating throughout Arizona and surrounding states. Fentanyl, a synthetic opioid, can become addictive for individuals using or misusing the substance. To combat the potential deadly effects of fentanyl and other opioids, Naloxone, also known as Narcan, can be administered to individuals experiencing an overdose.   • What is Narcan (or Naloxone)?
    • Narcan is a medication approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) designed to rapidly reverse opioid overdose. 
  • Is there a minimum age to carry Narcan?
    • No! There is no minimum age to carry and use narcan as it is is available over the counter at most pharmacies, and can be found for free here
  • Why should I carry Narcan?
    • Whether you know individuals with substance abuse disorder or not, having Narcan on hand can help save the life of a stranger!
  • How do I properly use Narcan?
    • Narcan is available as a nasal spray or injection and is to be used on individuals experiencing an overdose. Luckily, there are plenty of trainings for all forms of Narcan online. Free trainings are available through the Red Cross and Sonoran Prevention Works.
  • Could talking about Narcan encourage other individuals to become active opioid users?
