2. LGBTQ+ Mental Health Resources

The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and Questioning (LGBTQ+) community represents a diverse range of identities and expressions of gender and sexual orientation. In the United States, individuals who identify as lesbian, gay, and bisexual are more than twice as likely than people who identify as heterosexual to experience a mental health condition, such as depression or anxiety. Transgender individuals are four times more likely. Those in the LGBTQ+ community are also five times more likely to attempt suicide. Below are mental health resources for the LGBTQ+ community and allies throughout Arizona. 

 

LGBTQ+ Support groups:

  • Arizona Trans Youth and Parent Organization
    • A parent-led support group for transgender and gender expansive children and their families.
  • One N Ten
    • Provides services to gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and questioning youth and their straight allies, ages 11 - 24. 
  • PFLAG - Yuma
    • Support for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning individuals and their parents, friends, and family members.

    • A national hotline for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and questioning peoples.

    • A confidential suicide prevention hotline for LGBTQ+ youth

    • Anonymous and confidential hotline for transgender, non-binary, and other individuals struggling with gender identity.
