What You Need to Know - Week of December 20
1. Symptoms of COVID-19, Flu, and RSV
2. Happy Holidays!
1. Symptoms of COVID-19, Flu, and RSV
Colds, flu, and other respiratory illnesses are more common in colder months as people are indoors more often, allowing viruses to pass more easily from one person to another. With the current ‘tripledemic’ of COVID-19, Flu, and RSV simultaneously circulating, knowing the difference in the symptoms of each illness can help identify the illness you have.
Common symptoms of all three illnesses include fever, cough, fatigue, a stuffy runny nose, and congestion.
Symptoms that differentiate COVID-19 from other illnesses include:
- Sudden loss of taste or smell
- Headache
- Loss of appetite
- Sore throat
Symptoms of the Flu show up about 1 to 4 days after being exposed to a sick person and include:
- Headache
- Loss of appetite
- Sore throat, and
- Sneezing
Symptoms of RSV are usually the worst on days 3 through 5 and last about 5 to 7 days and include:
- Sneezing
- Wheezing cough that sounds wet
Stay safe this holiday season by staying up to date on COVID-19 and Flu vaccinations, frequently washing your hands, and wearing masks in crowded areas to reduce your chance of getting COVID-19, Flu, and RSV!
